Our Taekwondo Program Dynamic Martial Arts offers olympic-style taekwondo classes at 2 locations -- Liberty Boro, near Elizabeth, PA, and Pleasant Hills, approximately one minute from Century III Mall. We teach children ages 5 and up, and separate the adults in their own classes. We like to teach our classes from a practical, real-life application point-of-view. After all, it does no good to learn the martial arts, yet not be able to defend yourself in a dangerous situation! Our students will learn the traditional, beautiful art-side of taekwondo, while still learning how to be an effective fighter, if the situation arises.

We make our children's classes are educational, yet fun. We take pride in our students' accomplishments. We are not a "black belt factory", and there is no set schedule of promotions or graduations. Students are promoted at their own pace, according to attendance and demonstration of proficiency in their belt level. Our philosophy since we opened is that students must earn their rank; otherwise, they will have a false sense of security. It is still surprising to us to this day how many children and adults are walking around with a black belt around their waist, yet have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Many schools out there will give you or even your 4, 3, and sometimes 2 year old child a black belt within a year or two. We believe this is a sad disservice to the students who believe that this is a satisfactory amount of time to have learned what takes others several years (and even a lifetime) to master. If you stop and really think about it, would you believe it takes a year to master any other sport? Would you send your child to the olympics after only one year of gymnastics? Of course not, yet many parents fall for this in the martial arts. In contrast, by the time our students have their first black belt, they already know more than many 3rd, 4th, and even 5th degree black belts from many other schools.

Many of our students have gone on to compete and medal in state and national competitions. While this is not ever required, we do feel it is another testimonial for the quality of our instruction. Our instructors have also competed at these advanced levels, and are able to pass this knowledge along to the students who are seeking it. Students are always evaluated for belts based on classroom instruction, but sometimes it is nice to step out of the box and see where you are, compared to others and their training. Plus, we believe that competition at any level is good for students' confidence, patience, character and self-esteem.

We strive to make our school a positive, fun, yet value-filled experience for parents and children alike. We feel it is always best when students WANT to come to class, and look forward to seeing us. The best classes are always ended with smiles!
