I knew when my daughter attended a karate birthday party that DMA was worth looking into. There was nothing macho or military. It wasn't chaos or a free-for-all. The school is a unique blend of discipline and fun. Their self-esteem and self-control are encouraged at every step. The expectations are high and they want to meet them. Techniques and strength are important, but they never take priority over the whole child--or the real kid. Ben and Sarah enrolled when they were 9 and 7. Two and a half years later, they are proud to be considered for a purple belt promotion. After more than two years of watching them, I finally joined too. I take the class with them because I really can't spare any other time. Sometimes I feel silly and even old (I'm 43) and uncoordinated. But when I asked my children to teach me and critique my moves, they were amazed. I told them they were the experts and I needed their help. My daughter said she didn't know a grown up could ask a kid and that she could be the leader. Both of them teach me with tact, compassion and maturity beyond their years. I'm proud of them and I'm proud of me. I can't get younger, but I can feel better.

My name is Audrey and I am 9 years old. This is my first year taking Taekwondo. I love it! I am surprised at how much I've learned so far! My favorite part about Taekwondo is practicing with the noodles, breaking boards and learning new techniques. Mr. Czerniak is a great teacher and I am looking forward to earning many belts in his class.
